Angela Chiang is a founding member of the Asian & Latino Solidarity Alliance of Central Virginia and the Asian Americans Impacting Virginia. She is a member of the Virginia State Board of Elections, appointed by the Governor and the Virginia legislature. She was also a two-term gubernatorial appointee who served on the Virginia Asian Advisory Board to provide input to the Governor’s programs affecting the Asian community in Virginia.
Angela is a long-term community advocate and has served in leadership roles on many boards: the Asian American Society of Central Virginia, the Organization of Chinese Americans – Central Virginia Chapter and Eastern Virginia Chapter, the Virginia Asian Chamber of Commerce, the Girl Scouts of the Commonwealth, the Chesterfield Education Foundation, and the Children of the Commonwealth Benevolent Fund. She has also served on many advisory boards, such as the Bon Secours Virginia Healthsource, the Richmond Times-Dispatch Opinions Department Community Advisory Board, the Dominion Energy Community Advisory Board, and the CBS Channel 6 Community Advisory Council.
Angela was a recipient of the 2018 Asian Community Leader of the Year Award from the Governor’s Virginia Asian Advisory Board, the 2015 Asian Leadership Inspiration Award from the Virginia Asian Chamber of Commerce, and the 2014 Swam Dunk Award for diligence in enhancing the mission of supplier diversity of Virginia Higher Education institutions.
Angela retired from the Virginia Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity, whereas the Director of Operations, she was responsible for the agency policies, staff performance, financial management, and overall programs and operations. Angela holds a Master’s Degree in Science and is an alumnus of the 2010 class of the Leadership Metro Richmond Quest. She has held several management positions and also had her own business for several years
