Eric Lin is Principal of The VIE Group, a business development and real estate consulting firm in Richmond, Virginia. Prior to his current position, Eric was the Owner and Director of Operations of Sunrise Enterprises, the mid-Atlantic’s largest wholesale orchid nursery.
Eric attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Materials Engineering with a specialization in ceramic composites, which afforded him the opportunity to work on NASA’s Space Shuttle Program. Eric has lived in various parts of the Commonwealth, but now resides in Chesterfield County with his wife, Tu, and three children.
Eric has deep connections to the community and in the past has served on several boards. Eric served as a two-time President of the Organization of Chinese Americans – Central Virginia Chapter; a Board member of the ASK Childhood Pediatric Cancer Foundation; an appointee to the 2010 Census Virginia Complete Count Committee under Governor Tim Kaine; Community Relations Director, Programs Chair and Governance Chair of the Asian American Society of Central Virginia; and most recently as a board member of Leadership Metro Richmond and a member of the Advisory Board of Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital.
Eric currently serves as a member of the Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of America – Heart of Virginia Council; board member at The Commonwealth Institute; member of the Equity Committee for Chesterfield County Public Schools; Vice President of Chapter Development of OCA Asian Pacific American Advocates (based in Washington D.C.); an appointee to the Virginia Asian Advisory Board to Governor Ralph Northam, where he served two terms as Chair under Governor Terry McAuliffe; and as an appointee to the 2020 Census – Virginia Complete Count Commission under Governor Northam.
Eric is also a founding member of the Asian & Latino Solidarity Alliance and currently serves as the Co-Community Engagement Director.
